Los Refugiados (by Alejandro Hoces) is a short film that portrays the cruelty of human beings and the lack of sympathy for their peers outside their circle. Two years after a terrible plague, Marta, a thirty-five-year-old mother, lives with her son, Samu, barely six years old, in a deteriorated but resistant farm. Her routine is to keep the house protected, get resources and train Samu to survive in this twilight world.

One morning, while training with the bow, Samu hears some screams on the other side of the gate and manages to take control to open it and save Ivan's life. The arrival of the twenty-two-year-old young man will be a breath of fresh air for Samu, but he will put Marta and her unbreakable rules on the ropes.
